神父的話
「跟我學吧！..... 因為我的軛是柔和的，我的擔子是輕鬆的。」
（瑪十一：25~30）
在現世，温柔這種美德沒有比以往那麼被人重視。以前有一段時間, 被人稱為温柔是最美好的讚語。尊稱別人為女仕或男仕就是個好例子。在今天，粗俗和暴力的行為到處可見。甚至在家庭裡亦有暴力的行為。我們吭駡、脚踢、擲物、打擊兄弟姊妹，甚至互相殘殺。
耶穌的訓誨就不同了！他曾講過：「跟我學習吧，因為我是温柔和謙遜的。」正如依撒意亞先知曾提過：「他不呼喊，不喧嚷，在街市上也聽不到他的聲音。破傷的蘆葦，他不折斷；將熄的燈心，他不吹滅。」(依42:2-3)
耶穌怎樣應對那位犯姦嫍淫的婦女就是証實他温柔的最好一個例子。他不但對那位婦女温柔，而且對那位理直氣壯的控訴者亦同羕樣温柔。他沒有大叫或吶喊。他只是彎下身然後用手指在沙上寫字。
耶穌確是教導我們要温柔。他用牧者與亡羊的比喻來教導我們效法他。他亦利用浪子回頭比喻中父親的榜樣來訓導我們。讓我們效法主耶穌那般温柔、謙遜、關懷和愛護別人吧！

"Come to me,… for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Today, gentleness is not as highly regarded as it used to be. There was a time when the best compliment you could pay someone was to call him or her a gentle person. The words of introduction, "Ladies and Gentlemen…" attest to this. Nowadays, rudeness and even violence are more popular than gentleness. Even our families reflect the violence of our times. We shout, kick, and throw things, strike our brothers and sisters, and even kill one another.
How different from what Jesus taught us! Learn from me," he said, "because I am, gentle and humble in spirit." As Isaiah said of the Lord long ago, "He will not shout or raise his voice or make loud speeches in the streets. He will not break off a bent reed nor put out a flickering lamp." (Is. 42:2-3)
A wonderful example of this gentleness is the way Jesus handled the incident of the woman caught in adultery. Jesus was gentle not only with the woman but also with her self-righteous accusers. He didn't scream or yell. He simply bent over and wrote in the sand with his finger.
Indeed, Jesus taught us to be gentle. He held up for our imitation the shepherd in the Parable of the Lost Sheep. He also taught us the example of the Father in the Prodigal Son. May we learn to be meek and humble, caring and loving like our Lord.
